A retro gaming watch that tracks your heart rate and lets you play Mega Man 2
If Mega Man 2 on the NES was one of your favorite games growing up, this smartwatch is built for you.
The Mega Man: My Play Watch is a collaboration between MyPlayWatch and Capcom. It is a smartwatch that lets you play a redesigned version of Mega Man 2 directly on your wrist.
How the gameplay works
The game has been rebuilt for a touchscreen interface. Mega Man runs automatically through each stage while you tap to fire, jump, and avoid obstacles. The design is intentionally simple.
This is not meant to recreate the full NES experience on a 1.91-inch display. Instead, it aims to capture the spirit of the original game in a format that works on a watch.
There are three modes available. Classic Mode lets you choose Robot Master stages, defeat bosses, and unlock Dr. Wily’s Castle. Arcade Mode increases the speed and difficulty while you try to earn high scores. Play Time Mode turns the watch into an animated Mega Man display.
Health tracking and watch features
The watch is not only for gaming. It also includes sensors that track steps, heart rate, and calories throughout the day. The interface uses Mega Man-inspired visuals, including pixel art and animated characters, so it still looks appealing when you are not playing.
One notable detail is what it leaves out. There is no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi, no notifications, and no app support. That makes it a focused device built for gaming and basic health tracking without the usual distractions.
The watch is available for preorder now for $79.99.
